Norfolk Open Studios is excited to announce that it will be moving to take place in the autumn for 2021’s event and beyond. In 2021 the scheme will take place from 25 September – 10 October.

Norfolk Open Studios was cancelled this year, to protect the safety of artists and visitors during the Covid-19 pandemic. However, we were delighted that we were still able to celebrate some of our amazing artists by Norfolk Open Studios going online.

Norfolk Open Studios

For 16 days each year, the Award-winning Norfolk Open Studios celebrates the county‚Äôs artists and their achievements by offering them the opportunity to open their doors to the public to exhibit, sell and talk about their work. In 2019 over 430 artists took part from over 250 studios and venues. 19 Norfolk schools also took part, celebrating the exceptional artistic talent of young people in the county.

Norfolk Open Studios has established itself as one of the largest and most successful open studios schemes in the country. It gives visitors the opportunity to see new art, meet artists, and – with many of the works on display being for sale – to buy original artworks directly from their creators.

Studios are FREE to visit and visitors don’t need to book in advance, unless they are a large group.

Norfolk Open Studios is run by Norfolk & Norwich Festival as one of its initiatives. The Festival manages Norfolk Open Studios in partnership with Norfolk artists and makers. It is distinct from the annual Norfolk & Norwich Festival which takes place in May each year.

The Norfolk Open Studios website and brochure publishes details of all artists taking part in the scheme each year. The brochure is made available in many venues across Norfolk in advance of the scheme, or you can download a version from this website. Each artist is listed within a geographical district of the county.

Many artists organise additional events and are often happy to accept commissions and/or welcome visitors throughout the year.

Art Trails
Now an integral part of Norfolk Open Studios, Art Trails allow visitors to make a memorable day out of their Open Studios visit.

Events & Demonstrations
Many artists run special events and activities during the scheme, offering visitors the chance to get creative and have a go themselves!

Taster Exhibitions
Regional taster exhibitions are held throughout the county, to give people a chance to see the variety of art work and working methods that can be seen during the run of the scheme. A Central Taster exhibition is also held at the Forum in Norwich ahead of the opening of the scheme in May. This brings together works from participating artists and gives visitors a flavour of what’s to come, giving them time to plan their open studio visits.
