Aldborough Primary School – Norwich

Aldborough Primary School feels that creative learning and the arts are of huge importance. Drama, music, photography, I.T. as well as painting, drawing, collage, sculpting and modelling are all considered vital to the artistic learning experiences we offer the children. As a result a significant amount of time is devoted to the arts subjects during the school year.

The children are encouraged to study the work of many artists as well as visit galleries and special exhibitions to inspire their work. In our community we are lucky to have many talented local artists, who play a huge part in the success of the arts curriculum by coming and sharing their expertise at school.

The exhibition we plan is centred on nature, and in particular an old horse chestnut tree which stands guard benevolently at the front of the school. We will showcase the art of all the children from the early years to year 6. Exhibition displays will include photographic collages, paintings, photographs and drawings. Art will be visible in the grounds of the school, sculptures and models made from natural resources and gardens tended by children. Much of the work will be collaborative, with a central display involving the whole school, but individual pieces of work will be exhibited alongside the collaborative projects.  We are excited to be part of the Open Studios and have the opportunity to show our art and school to the wider community.
