About Katayoun

“I have always known that art was my passion in life. My formal training was as a traditional printmaker and whilst at university I began to embrace scale and context in my artwork. As my career developed, I experimented with different materials and processes, taking on architectural glass commissions, installation work and photography. I have been creating artworks for public spaces for over 25 years now, whilst still creating work for galleries. I continue to articulate my ideas through a wider palette of materials, including my more recent foray into wood and willow.

In 2014 I moved to Norfolk with my husband. We swapped our city life for a rural one, to some land with a 17th century thatched barn and an agricultural cart shed. I converted the cart shed into my dream studio that includes a dark-room and from where I could run workshops. My commissions take me all around the country, but the core of my research and artwork development takes place in my studio.

My passion for nature has blossomed since living in Norfolk and has altered the trajectory of my art practice.”
